It's almost the end of half of the school year!!! December has been filled with Reading & Math Inventory testing as well as reading around with Scholastic NEWS, HOUR of CODE from Code.org & TypeToLearn. Make sure you ask scholars their current scores to compare with their previous testing in Aug/Sept. A lot of the scholars made noticeable gains from Aug/Sept. to Dec.
Hour of Code was huge success, while the students in all grades (K-5th) were given a chance to complete an activity during Technology or Media Center rotation DECEMBER 4-10. Bryant scholars did an awesome job "playing the games" which at the same time they were actually programming the characters to follow different commands. Even though Hour of Code has ended nationally, we will continue to explore Code.org and Program On!!! Scholastic NEWS has been added to technology curriculum, the scholars will have an opportunity to engage in several current events & activities while reinforcing reading comprehension skills. In addition the Scholastic NEWS articles & activities are cross-curricular, which means READING, MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES & ENGLISH is embedded throughout. As we end the first half of the school year, we will return to continue building our typing skills by taking Typing Timed Challenges, computer programming with Code.org, Soar through reading with Scholastic NEWS and several other activities. Make sure you check back next year...January 2018 to see how we are MOUSING around in the Lab. SEE You NEXT YEAR!!!!! REMINDER--- HOLIDAY BREAK December 21, 2017- January 3, 2018
